We are hiring postdocs, PhD students and research engineers to build AI systems that keep improving after deployment.
Who we’re looking for
People who test ideas on real systems, beyond toy setups. Strong engineering, careful experiments and clear writing matter more than background. Most of what we build is released openly as papers, code, benchmarks and data.
Postdocs
We are hiring in recursive self-improvement, long-horizon post-training and RL environments, data-centric ML, agent evaluation, continual learning, and foundation models for neuroscience. Applying for your own fellowship? Get in touch early.
PhD students
We recruit mainly through the IMPRS-IS and ELLIS doctoral programs, with deadlines usually in November. Current PhD students can join us for a research visit.
Research engineers
We are looking for engineers to build and run our research infrastructure: large-scale training and evaluation pipelines, data processing, and agent environments.
Theses & rotations
We supervise Master’s theses and research rotations, mainly for students at the University of Tübingen and its partner programs. We currently do not offer internships for students from abroad.
How to apply
Please apply through our application form rather than by email, with a CV, a few sentences on what you’d like to work on, and links to code or papers. We review submissions monthly, but receive far more applications than we have positions, so we may not be able to reply to everyone.
We welcome applications from everyone, regardless of gender, background or disability.
